VoIP Call Quality Troubleshooting
Diagnose and resolve VoIP call quality issues including choppy audio, latency, jitter, and echo.
Choppy or Robotic Audio
Usually caused by packet loss or jitter on your network. Check if the issue occurs on all phones or just one. If one phone, try a different Ethernet port. If all phones, your network may be congested — check for large downloads or backups.
Echo on Calls
Echo is typically caused by the handset or headset. Try a different headset. If using a speakerphone, lower the volume. Persistent echo may indicate an impedance mismatch on analog connections to the outside world.
Dropped Calls
Dropped calls can indicate SIP registration issues, internet instability, or firewall problems. Check that your internet is stable during the drop. Note the approximate time — our team can correlate it with network logs.
One-Way Audio
If you can hear the caller but they can't hear you (or vice versa), this is usually a NAT/firewall issue. Do not attempt to reconfigure the firewall — submit a ticket so we can verify SIP ALG settings and RTP port forwarding.
