Setting Up Your VoIP Phone
Step-by-step guide for connecting and configuring your VoIP desk phone to the network.
Physical Setup
Connect the Ethernet cable from the wall jack to the phone's LAN port. If your phone supports passthrough, connect your computer to the phone's PC port. Plug in the power adapter (or verify PoE is available on your switch port).
Auto-Provisioning
Most phones in our managed environment auto-provision — they download their configuration from our server on boot. Wait 2-3 minutes after powering on. The phone should display your extension number and name when ready.
Testing Your Phone
Dial your own extension from another phone to verify it rings. Make an outbound call to verify dial tone and audio quality. Test voicemail by dialing the voicemail access number (typically *97).
If the Phone Doesn't Provision
Verify the Ethernet cable is connected to a PoE-enabled port. Check that the phone shows an IP address in its network settings. If no IP appears, the port may not be active — submit a ticket with the phone model and wall jack number.
